A 'hop on hop off" sightseeing tour of Noumea on board the Noumea Explorer or Alpha Bus shuttle service takes in the main attractions : markets, museums, aquarium, botanical gardens and zoo as well as the famous Tjibaou Cultural Centre (guided visits twice weekly)

An unusual way of exploring Noumea is with the “little tourist train” (le petit train) which operates a 1h30minute tour of the city of Noumea with English commentary on the cultural and historical aspects of the capital city of New Caledonia.

Trip to Casy Island : Day trips with picnic hamper to Casy Island.

Duck Island : Take a 5 minute taxi boat ride and explore Duck Island’s underwater snorkelling trail.

Amédée Lighthouse : Day trip to the Amédée Lighthouse which stands on an island at the heart of a magnificent marine reserve. A range of activities are on offer (snorkelling, glass bottom boat) as well as a delicious barbecue lunch and cultural show. One of the best tours available.

Ouen Toro : Nearby Ouen Toro hill offers visitors superb walks with breathtaking views.

Tjibaou Cultural Centre : Packed with vivid reminders of the myths and ancient knowledge of the Kanak people, the Tjibaou Cultural Centre is built on the Tina Peninsular and offers a harmonious blend of traditional and modern architectural styles. The Centre houses exhibitions/shows and features a Kanak discovery trail.

Tina golf course : 9 or 18 hole golf course overlooking the lagoon. Equipment is available for rental. Practice facility available.

Forest park plant and wildlife sanctuary : A nature lover’s dream, the ideal way to explore New Caledonia’s plants and wildlife.

Blue River Park : It is well worth spending a day at Blue River Park which lies to the west of Yaté Lake. The Park is a nature reserve well provided with picnic and bathing areas, offering visitors the chance to see a wide variety of New Caledonia’s unique native plant and wildlife species, including the national emblem the Cagou bird. Bicycles can be hired at the park.

Horse riding on the beach or in the mountains or alongisde the Dumbea River. Hourly or daily excursions operated beginners and experienced riders.

Jet Ski : 1/2 day or full rental hire - great way to discover the lagoon.

Helicopter : Discover aerial views of the city of Noumea, the barrier reef, the mainland, the surrounding islands and the abundant marine life. Duration of flights from 15 minutes to one hour or longer.


Diving : One of the best diving locations in the world - the world's largest lagoon is home to an abundant marine life.
